Let me tell you a little bit about me.
My name is Rita Rose Pasquale, everyone knows me as “Sifu Rita” .
I’ve been training in the Martial Arts for 25 years now and I am a 3rd Degree Black Belt and also 200 RYT. I’ve been running a martial arts studio in Danvers for 20 years and been instrumental in helping children overcome anxiety, low self esteem and other behavioral issues.
I decided to do life coaching because I want to help people to accomplish their goals. Now I am not a diet expert but I will tell you this – for years I had struggled with my weight, up and down like a yo-yo and had tried every diet that is out there. At an early age I learned how to use humor to disguise my pain and I would say joking “I’ve been on so many diets, I’ve been on everything but roller skates.” I was always looking for a short cut, a quick fix one that does not exist. There is only one way to do it – behavior modification and the many diets I tried did not teach me this and this is why it/I failed.
I guess you could say I had an emotional eating disorder since I was in the 5th grade. Being Italian, food revolved around everything and what ever I was feeling if I just eat (fill in the space) it would make me feel better. This was really the root of my trouble, thinking that food could fill a void or fix something – and it only made me feel bad about myself after “cheating”.
So why is it different this time? Well for a few reasons – this time I decided to do the work internally, from the inside out and that is what inspired me to use this name for my blog. I have worked with therapists and life coaches that have taught me behavior modification techniques and how to do an internal inventory before taking a walk to the fridge.
Reminding yourself that “I am worth the time and the effort that it is going to take” is another important note to remember here. There are times you might not want to exercise or go for that walk, there are times you aren’t going to want to cook or eat healthy, there are times you are going to wish the car would go remote control through the drive through at McDonald’s, BUT every time you make the right choice, and we always have a choice, that is going to keep you on the path to success and your sense of self will get a little stronger.
They say it takes 30 days to establish a habit and I think it’s true. Once you get yourself into a routine and start to feel better – you will not trade that feeling for anything.
